Juniors Tour Florida Colleges
The King’s Academy College Counseling Office is committed to helping students identify the types of schools they want to pursue as they continue their college searches. Last month fifty juniors travelled from TKA’s West Palm Beach and Clewiston campuses on a two-day tour of Florida colleges and universities. They visited the University of Florida, University of Central Florida, Rollins College, and Florida State University. Students attended information sessions conducted by admissions personnel and received walking tours of the campuses. The trip also provided an opportunity to learn about specific college majors, entrance requirements, and the importance of the strength of academic schedules while in high school.
“The most beneficial part of the junior college tour, for me, was just walking on the various campuses and picturing myself going to these various schools while trying to see if it felt right calling these places home” said TKA junior Jared Sousa. Michael Rodino-Clasen declared “The tour helped me to determine that Florida State University is my first choice!” Amanda Gonzalez said “The college tour was so much fun. I enjoyed experiencing something completely new with my friends and I gained a whole new perspective of campus life!”
TKA College Counselor Robin Carrier pointed out “visiting as many college and university campuses as you can is a great way to learn which college is right for you. Sharing this experience with our TKA juniors is an absolute privilege! Our whirlwind tour allowed students to experience firsthand the character and diversity that each of these institutions of higher education has to offer.”
