The High School strives to promote the development of spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical, and social skills that lead to lifelong learning. Students are challenged to assume personal responsibility for their actions, learning, and faith as they are confronted with eternal truths. Options such as, Honors classes, Advanced Placement classes, and college classes are available to challenge the college-bound student, A student's spiritual development will be enriched through Bible classes, weekly chapels, group Bible studies, and clubs. The guidance office offers assistance with college investigation, selection, and the application process, as well as academic counseling and mentoring. One additional counselor focuses on the spiritual, emotional, and social needs of each student. A wide variety of extra-curricular activities in the arts and athletics adds to the opportunities for a well-rounded school experience.

AP Classes are weighted by adding one point.

Honors classes are weighted by adding .5

Credits for Graduation

To graduate from The King's Academy, a student must earn 24 credits in grades 9-12.  A student taking a full load will earn 6.0 or more credits a year. A full year course that meets five periods per week for one school year earns 1 credit. A semester course that meets five periods per week earns .5 credit. In order to graduate, studetns must take a minimum of the following (during grades 9-12): Four years of english, Math and History; three years of Science (four is strongly recommended), two years of a foreign language (Must be in the same language; beginning with the class of 2013), three semesters of bible (one class each year during grades 10-12), one semester of Life management Skills; one year Fine Arts and Physical Education; and one semester of Computer.

College Preparatory Track

Students on the college preparatory track need to take four years of English, History, Math and Science and a minimum of two years of Foreign Language (although three or more is strongly encouraged). Taking a strong course load helps build a strong academic résumé and better prepares the student for future success.

Community Service Program

This program enables students seeking the Florida Academic Scholarship Certificate to meet its 75-hour senior high community service requirement.


Advanced Courses

  • Honors Courses Offered in Lieu Of Required and Elective Courses
    Honors sections offer greater depth and challenge in subject matter and related skills. Honors sections of required courses are as follows: Honors Physics, Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, Honors Human Physiology, Honors Marine Science, Honors Algebra I,  Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra II, Honors Statistics, Honors Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus, Honors English I, Honors English II, Honors European History, Wind Symphony Honors, His Voice Honors, His People Honors.
  • Advanced Placement Courses Offered in Lieu of Required and Elective Courses
    These courses are designed to prepare students for the Advanced Placement Tests administered nationally each Spring. Advanced Placement courses are as follows: Advanced Placement English Language and Composition, Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition, Advanced Placement Biology, Advanced Placement Chemistry, Advanced Placement Physics, Advanced Placement Statistics, Advanced Placement Calculus-AB, Advanced Placement Calculus-BC, Advanced Placement U.S. History, Advanced Placement World History, Advanced Placement Macroeconomics, Advanced Placement Spanish, Advanced Placement Music Theory.
  • College Courses
    The King's Academy has an agreement with Palm Beach Community College allowing students to take college classes on campus. Classes offered vary each semester. This arrangement is available for pre-qualified 11th and 12th grade students. Further information regarding this program may be obtained from the High School Guidance Office.

Bible

The most important class at The King's Academy is Bible class, supported by Bible integration in all the subjects taught. The Bible class will provide the knowledge necessary to experience saving faith. Throughout the presentation of subject matter there will be constant encouragement to apply the knowledge to the student's life. It is our aim to encourage spiritual growth.

To prepare students at The King's Academy to glorify God through all of their communication skills, the English courses at TKA develop reading, writing, critical thinking, and speaking skills as students read and respond to quality literature of all genres. The courses also develop skills in understanding and manipulating the English language as they write both expository and creative essays applying grammatical and composition knowledge.

Social Studies

History, economics, government and geography are taught from a Christian worldview. Students are encouraged to develop skills that will help them to be life-time learners. Our goals include developing an awareness of God's Hand in history and appreciation of different cultures. Students explore past and present events in light of God's truth. Students are challenged to express themselves and broaden their knowledge of man's role in society. Our social studies classes endeavor to provide students with tools that allow them to analyze and understand man's responsibilities in society.

Science

Science courses are essential in order to provide an understanding of the physical and biological principals that affect our lives. Through scientific studies, students are challenged to recognize God's greatness as evidenced by the design and order He has created in nature. Students are taught to develop critical thinking skills and are evaluated through testing, lab experiments, research, and group work. All science classes are considered Lab Sciences and Biology and Chemistry are a pre-requisite for all other science classes.

Foreign Language

Learning a world of language helps a student develop a multicultural perspective, which would be useful in college, career, and travel choices. All languages require study and practice. Each language course stresses development of four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. At The King's Academy, the foreign language department also stresses the development of an interest in being able to share the message of God's love and the gift of salvation with those who speak other languages.
