Counseling: The college counselor is available at all times to talk to students and parents about their college opportunities. This includes answering questions about financial aid, help in developing a college list, questions about one’s chances for admission, and any other questions. These meetings are the main part of the college counselor’s job; students and parents should feel free to call or visit any time.
Paperwork: We also take care of the paperwork associated with the application process. Although most applications today are completed on-line, students are urged to allow the counselor to review the application before submitting it. Also, the counselor can help with gathering and mailing teacher recommendations, the school recommendations and counselor forms, and the official transcript. It is highly recommended that the students utilize this service in order to receive the maximum benefits of the program.
Deadlines: the King's Academy imposes a deadline in October for certain applications and in December for others. The October deadline is for all students pursuing early decision, early action, or rolling admission. Please become familiar with certain early deadlines, such as the one for the University of Florida.
Also please note: It is the responsibility of the student to request SAT and ACT scores from the testing agencies before the deadline imposed by the college. The scores printed on a TKA transcript are for informational purposes only.
Materials: We provide brochures, view books, catalogues, and paper applications for dozens of colleges and universities. We also have copies of the common application, FAFSA applications, and the CSS profile, in addition to the Bright Futures application. (All of these are available on-line, and we can help you find the locations as well.) In addition, the school owns a number of general college guidebooks and college DVDs, which you are welcome to use at any time.
