H1N1 Update - 11/17/2009

Dear Parents:

So far this year we’ve had about 80 students and a few faculty and staff members come down with the flu. We’re happy to report they were all back to school in just a few days. Considering we have over 1100 students and nearly 160 faculty and staff on campus, we’re doing pretty well.

We wash our hands regularly, especially before meals, we use hand sanitizer and keep our sneezes in our sleeves. Thanks to the diligence of our amazing housekeeping crew, who regularly disinfect doorknobs, common areas, etc., our School Nurse, Paula DeJesus, our teachers and their aides, and through your cooperation, we’ve been able to keep germs at bay and our students pretty much flu free.

The CDC reminds us that the flu season is far from over, and that we need to remain diligent. Please continue to encourage your child to practice good hygiene, keep an eye out for flu like symptoms, and if flu comes, make sure your child stays home until fever free for 24 hours without the aid of medication.

If your student does have the flu, or if he or she has a reaction to the flu shot, please call or e-mail Mrs. De Jesus and let her know, because she is keeping an account of how we’re doing as a school.

Working together we can continue navigate safely through this flu season. Thanks for your continued cooperation.

Kevin Colling, Headmaster
